59. TMS28: Rosemary’s Baby; or, THE YEAR IS ONE!!! 20190228

Hello! Just a quick note about this week, as it is a little bit different than our usual posts.

First of all, we would like to give a content warning for this episode. As the film itself does cover sexual assault as a primary theme of the movie, this may be troubling for some to listen to. We do not get graphic at any point, other than describing the plot and scenes in the film, but sexual assault is discussed, and we thought that it would not be fair to release this episode without giving a content warning.

Also because of the director. Roman Polanski is a troubling individual to talk about and a troubling person to view critically as a director or artist. We feel that the content warning for our discussion of a work by Polanski is even more deserving of a warning. Rosemary’s Baby is a fictional film; Polanski is a real person who has done real things that are disturbing. We don’t delve into any of those here, but we are still discussing a work by a troubling and troubled individual.

Because of these peculiarities, we are releasing two episodes this week: this one, a main show discussing a film, and a MeMeMe episode, which some of you know is a catch all type of show where we discuss the things that we have been consuming and enjoying recently. We are doing this so that people who are not inclined to listen to this particular episode will still have some content from us to listen to and hopefully enjoy.

Episode 10: Buy The Rights!, or, Man, I Should Be A Producer!

Tonight! We talk about the card game called “Buy The Rights,” a game in which players play producer and award budget to hastily assembled movies/tv shows. The player with the most earned budget wins! It’s just like real life!

Episode 8: Ginger Snaps, or, “Uh oh, I got the curse!”, or, “That’s why the Big Buddha made me!”

We look into the 2000 film from John Fawcett, Ginger Snaps. Watch it, then listen! Because as always, there are spoilers and we talk about the movie. MeMeMeTime will also include spoilers.
